Backsplash work can be a small part of a quote and a significant part of the finished appearance. Before it enters production, the job needs a clear statement of what has been selected and which site conditions or later decisions still require review.
Record the design boundaries
Identify the areas included, material selection, intended finish and the approved visual layout where relevant. Keep references to adjoining surfaces and fixtures in the job documentation. Have qualified personnel establish measurement, fabrication and installation details for the actual project.
If some information depends on another trade completing work, record that dependency and who will confirm it. Do not let a provisional drawing circulate as if it were the final production version. Label its status in the same way across the office, field and programming records.
