A site photograph can explain a condition that a drawing alone does not communicate. It becomes much less useful when the office cannot identify the room, direction or issue shown. A consistent photo record helps the technician transfer context without relying on memory.
Label the reason for the image
Attach photographs to the correct job and identify the area shown. Add a short note explaining the relevant condition or question. Link the image to a drawing reference where the shop’s tools support it. The next person should know why the photograph matters, not just that someone took it.
Collect only the job information needed for the work and follow the customer’s agreed access and photo arrangements. Keep unrelated personal details out of the record where practical. Store the images in the approved job location rather than a technician’s personal message history.
Keep context with the revision
If a site condition changes, preserve which photographs supported the earlier drawing and which document the update. Have the responsible person determine whether new measurements or approvals are required.

The organizational principle is broader than one device: field context should remain connected to the drawing and decision it supports. Good labels make that information usable by programming, fabrication and installation staff who were not present at the visit.
